Roland have made many good choices, and I happily play their instruments; but to drop support for this interface is a bad choice.
The machine has not been rebooted since, so it would not have gotten enabled mkdi, would it?

Have you modified the driver in the unpacked directory, with the changes indicated in my post, before attempting the installation? Thanks for your help and encouragement. Repeated steps and all worked fine this time. This controller has an amazing number of controls; lots of knobs, buttons, switches and slider. Includes keyboard, manual and disk only.

I may have to start again on this PC to get it to work. I stumbled on your page while searching for a midi interface advertised as compatible with Win 10, to replace my Edirol UM-1EX that had stopped working in the switch from Win 7.
However, I would like to update on the progress of the PC because I just recently managed to get it to work and hope it will help someone else. The manual for this puppy is HUGE because this is a full featured MIDI controller, endlessly configurable for whatever application you might need it for.
